Do you think pets care about what I think?

Do you think pets care about what I think?

I have been debating this for long in my mind as much as to people. Do domesticated animals have a better life or limited life?.

The Pet shops, Spas and the fancy wet clinics cropping at almost all the places. Not to mention the pet food industry flourishing. Pets are a stress buster for many. Passion for many. Addiction for a few too. Not to mention the status symbol too.

Pets get the Pampering, which almost half of the world children don’t get. But still, do the Pets enjoy the pampering?. As I walk the street, I see proud pet owners bringing their dogs for a walk. Groomed but chained. I also see the stray dogs dirty but free.

So which one it is?. My children tell me the Pets are the fortunate ones as they have owners who will love them unconditionally and food is always easy to get. But a what cost questions my mind. At the cost of not being able to run around till it pants for breath like a real dog. At the cost of the world being the four walls and the cosy cushion in the corner of the room. At the cost of castration or sterilization or fixed breeding appointments. At the cost of having imported food with all the nutrition but taste and variety. At the cost of giving up hunter instinct for the search for food.

Still, it might also feel cosy as my children claim it to be, for it is made to believe that way. It could be that being a wild stray dog is not even in its wildest imagination. And of course, imagination is a gift that only human beings have.

Disclaimer: This is just loud thinking of my thoughts and it is not to hurt the sentiments of any pet owner.

I would love to hear the opinions of you in the comment below to have different angles to the thought.
