A conversation with a friend, about my plan to attend Vipassana in 2020 turned deep and thought-to provoke. He asked me the reason for me to attend a 10-day long Vipassana. I haven’t attended one before , but I had good feedback from people close to me and all of them said the same that I will have to experience it at least once in my life.
As an explorer, I thought I will explore my deep self through this programme and bring in more happiness into my life with peace. This is where my friend and I got into a healthy argument. He asked if I was not happy now to go in search of happiness.
I know I am happy at the moment but can I not develop it even more? This really made me think but still certain things will not have a concrete answer. Sharing a brief of what I thought inside my head .
Has my happiness quotient increased over the years? It definitely has. And was it incremental or exponential? It was incremental. Did I work towards achieving happiness in life? Yes, I did. Why did I do it? It was just a natural inclination I had towards understanding life, emotions and the soul. This was a subject I started exploring without anyone recommending me. Every book I read and the people I met opened a realm of understanding of things that I didn’t know before. This finer understanding brought in internal peace and happiness. I attracted the right teachers as my thoughts were aligned to happiness. So now when Vipassana feels like a natural choice to me, I am speechless. When you know your truth within, you stumble for words. So let me just experience for the sake of experience. This is the way I am limitless. I cannot question people and sometimes not so good at giving answers too. This is me and my truth.
Do you have to work on your happiness?
Yes until a point where happiness becomes you and there is no two way to it. Until such time, till you reach a tipping point it is necessary. Because till that tipping point being sad is easier than being happy.
