To get a new one or to take care of the existing one?

To get a new one or to take care of the existing one?

I own a windows laptop core i3 processor. It is not the latest version but it serves my purpose. It was a handy partner in doing all my digital work both personal and professional. As years passed by its efficiency lowered, should I say it’s speed lowered?

Every time before I could turn it on, I cribbed, for it took ages to load. Ctrl Alt Delete was my anxiety key. I kept telling my husband very often that I am done with this laptop and will have to invest in a new advanced version or an iMac. This made my husband arrange for a technical servicing for my laptop. The service person did the antivirus and a few others were done. The unorganised files that were cluttering the desktop were organised into a drive. After all this, the service person advised not to spend a penny more on the laptop but to buy a new one in six months. There was no visible difference in speed but then now I thought this will only last for six months after which I will change it.

Luckily in one of the occasions when a tech-savvy friend visited me in my office to discuss business, he saw me struggling with my system and offered to help. I was game in because anything that can change the efficiency of my laptop will be magic for me now. I am sure you understand how certain little things can annoy you so much. More so when you work alone in your office with only your laptop for company. He discussed with me on the things I do with it and brought to my awareness a list of things in the background that was not serving my purpose but was still running and that was affecting the speed. With my permission, he stopped a few, deleted a few and that was magic. The system was back to its original speed and efficiency and I should also admit. With the insights, he gave me, my efficiency to handle it also improved. That’s a double treat.

Wait! Is that not what I do to people as a life coach!
